RESIDENTS will get a second chance to inspect options for a controversial bypass around Studley following recent concerns over consultation.

The A435 Option 3a Action Group has decided to go it alone and hold its own exhibition of the 10 options to alleviate traffic chaos early next year.

Chairman of the group and Sambourne resident Brian Danks said Sambourne villagers and residents of Wirehill in Redditch had not had a proper chance to express their views on a dual carriageway option which might one day be built near their homes.

Public displays of the plans were first shown in Redditch and Studley in October.

Feedback showed that most people supported the idea of a dual carriageway to the west of Studley, the route opposed by the A435 Option 3a Action Group.

Mr Danks said: We do support the need for a bypass but we want to find a compromise and we do feel that so far, the views of people of Samborne, and Wirehill have almost been ignored.

But Roger Newham, transport development manager for Warwickshire County Council, which will eventually decide which option to support, said the door was still open and new views were welcome.

Last week, it was revealed that the Alexandra Hospital, which could also be affected by a bypass, had not been consulted by Warwickshire County Council.

Mr Newham said three of the 10 options had been discounted and seven appraised and assessed.

He added: We are hoping to narrow down the rest of the options by spring. After that, it's possible both the eastern and western routes will go forward for further consideration.
