STEVE Piearce is standing by for a recall to Hereford United's starting line-up for tonight's LDV Vans Trophy first round clash with Yeovil Town at Edgar Street (7.45).

The injury-plagued striker, who has been on the bench in recent games, will get his chance if first-choice Rob Elmes is ruled out by possible work commitments.

Otherwise, the Bulls are likely to stick to the side that drew 0-0 with Nationwide Conference basement boys Kettering Town on Saturday -- their eighth home draw of the season.

Bulls Director of Football Graham Turner said: "It was disappointing to have dropped home points again but I thought we created enough chances -- we just couldn't finish them off."

United are confident tonight's tie will finally get the go-ahead at the third attempt after two previous attempts were thwarted by the weather.

Turner added: "Everything looks perfect -- there is no water in the car park and the pitch is in excellent condition."

The tie with the Conference leaders, who are managed by former Bulls boss Colin Addison, has been given added spice by the draw for the next round, which gives the winners a home tie with Second Division high-flyers Reading, to be played in the week commencing January 8.

Turner added: "It is quite an exciting draw for the winners but we want to concentrate on Yeovil first.

"They are going extremely well but I thought in the 2-2 draw here in October we perhaps should have won the game. It has the makings of a very good game."

The 'golden goal' rule will apply if tonight's match goes into extra-time.
