MISTER Ermyn has his idiosyncrasies but look-ed in good heart last time out when second at Cheltenham and can keep up the good work in the Tote Quick Pick Hurdle at Newbury to-morrow.

The Les Montague Hall-trained gelding landed a bit of a touch at Stratford back in July and then followed up at Worcester, only to go off the boil for a bit.

However he looked right back to his best last time when allowed to dominate, as suits him, last time and showed fighting spirit to battle back and claim second place behind Irish raider Hidden Ability.

Not one for the mortgage, Mister Ermyn has both run out and refused to race in his time.

But in the hope that last month's effort was a sign of his present good mood, he is worth chancing off his featherweight.

Errand Boy can be forgiven two failures this season and is fancied to make amends in the Myson Radiator Novices' Chase at Newcastle.

Sue Smith's gelding was a winner four times over hurdles last season andlooked a classy chasing pros-pect in the making.

But things have not gone to plan so far as the six-year-old fell four out on his debut at Carlisle before finishing lame last time out at Ayr.

Provided he can put those problems behind him - and he would not be running unless connections were satisfied that he is right again - then a win in a contest such as this is well within his capabilities.

Market Scan was sent off odds-on for a novice chase here on his British debut but made some howlers with his jumping and ultimately finished well beaten.

However, he looked a lot perkier last time out at Wetherby and provided that he can progress again, he can make a successful return to Gosforth Park and land the Weatherbys Insurance Handicap Chase.
