THE recent blocking of a main sewer in Birmingham Road, Studley, which might have placed an extra burden on local ratepayers, prompted members of Studley Parish Council to issue an appeal to all households to exercise great care to ensure that no foreign matter was allowed to enter the sewers.

The suggestion to issue the appeal came from Mr GC Hill, who said that probably only the prompt action of local workmen in rectifying a stoppage in Birmingham Road, caused by an old jacket, saved a considerable amount of money.

It was essential, he said, that parishioners take great care in this matter because already the drainage system was running at full capacity.
