THE long running saga over relegation and promotion to rugby's top flight could take another twist today with the Rugby Football Union's management board set to decide on the status of the Leicester agreement.
The agreement, set up in November 1996, gave top clubs more power in the game and has enabled Premiership outfits to propose an end to promotion to the Zurich Premiership.
However, English Second Division rugby clubs (ESDR) including Worcester, have asked the RFU to terminate the Leicester Agreement arguing it is no longer valid. If the management board end the agreement then it is likely there will be one promotion place this season.
The RFU has already backed the proposal following last month's Oliver Popplewell meeting.
