BROMSGROVE MP Julie Kirkbride has spoken of her family's horror when a screaming woman burst into their London home late on Sunday.
It comes just seven months after the 40-year-old MP was woken by a knife-wielding burglar who entered her bedroom after breaking into the couple's Westminster home while her husband, Andrew MacKay, was away.
Miss Kirkbride said she, Andrew and their nanny, Naomi Dent, from Bromsgrove, had just finished dinner at around 10pm when the doorbell rang.
She said: "I answered it and a woman burst past me into the house screaming 'I want you to help me'."
"Andrew grabbed her and restrained her until police arrived and led her away."
She said they learned later the woman, who is aged about 40, had absconded from a local mental unit.
Miss Kirkbride added no-one had been hurt, but the incident had left them shocked.
Following the incident in June the couple said they proposed to tighten security at their homes.
Mr MacKay has a high profile job on the opposition front bench as shadow Northern Ireland secretary.
