IT was interesting to read your web page because my family has links with your newspaper.
My father, Frederick Allcott, was Sports Editor of the Evening News and Times until he joined the RAF in 1942 and my sister was secretary to Frank Greatwich, who I think, was Editorial Director of the Berrows Organisation at the time. This would be during the 1960s.
I have several old copies of the Evening News because I had many photos of myself from time-to-time in the paper.
My sister came to Canada in 1974 and I followed with mother in 1975. My earliest memories connected with the paper was delivering lunch time sandwiches (usually egg and cheese) to the Sports Box on the Worcestershire County Cricket ground when my father was reporting - this must have been the 1939 season.
We had the Evening News and Times delivered at home all those years. Berrow's Worcester Journal was, I think, delivered on Wednesdays and the Green 'Un on Saturday evening. What memories this brings back.
FRED ALLCOTT,
Worcester.
