THE three games in Division One of the Bromsgrove and Redditch Table Tennis League last week were all rather one-sided affairs.

Brian Belcher, having a rare game for Newton Works A, along with his team mates Chris Maiden and Michael Kendall were much too good for Droitwich A, winning 10-0.

Newton Works B however had a 9-1 drubbing from Lickey Monarchs. Steve Mullard (three), Sid Hodgetts (three) and Martin Clarke (two) were the Monarch's winners while Gary Jackson got the only win for Newton B.

SPSP were rather unlucky 10-0 losers away at Astwood Bank. Two of the games went to the best of three and several of the others were quite close, but the Bank team of Dave Wood, Jim Connors and Pete Kelly were worthy winners.

Best game of the week in Division Two was between Lickey Panthers and Studley Road Terriers.

Geoff Unitt did best for Lickey winning all his games and was well backed up by John Dale who won two. Best Studley player was Steve Demercado who won two, with John Dignum and Peter Hartles getting one each. With the score at 5-4 to Lickey with the doubles to come, Lickey needed one to win the game, this they did when Geoff and John beat Steve and John 21-12, 21-9, to give the home side victory.

Hillcrest B were too strong for Droitwich B winning 8-2. Anita Bennett and Graeme Farrell both won their three games for Hillcrest, plus one from Margaret Buxton and the doubles gave them victory. Chris Harris got the two wins for Droitwich.

Barnt Green B also had an 8-2 win over Newton Works C. Jason McFall did best for Barnt Green and was undefeated.

His team mates Steve Hore and John Davies each got two wins, plus the doubles for an easy win. Brian Askey recorded two wins for Newton.
