A BROMSGROVE woman who bravely rescued disabled children from a fire in a bus is to receive an award from the county council today.

Janet Taylor, of Housman Close, Charford, saved three disabled children earlier this year when the minibus she was driving to take them to respite care caught fire.

With the children in wheelchairs clamped in the vehicle to keep them from moving, Janet had to go back into the burning bus to release them.

She has been chosen as one of Worcestershire County Council's Unsung Heroes, an award to recognise the achievements of people who make the community a better place.

Winners of the award are chauffeur-driven to Worcester for a special ceremony and are presented with a gift to remember their achievement.
