A CHARITY to fund research into the killer disease meningitis is £1,000 better off thanks to Bromsgrove Court Leet.
Last week at Bromsgrove Rugby Club's Finstall headquarters, the immediate past Court Leet bailiff, Tim Harris, handed a cheque to Kathy Hunt, of the Meningitis Research Foundation.
The donation will be added to cash raised from a marathon rugby event called Kick Meningitis into Touch, which so far has raised over £24,000 for the foundation.
Kathy organised the epic 12-hour match in memory of her husband, John, a member of the Bromsgrove club, who died from the disease in 1995.
During his year as bailiff, Mr Harris raised a record £2,000 for his two chosen charities. The other is Leukaemia Research.
