MORE than 1,000 people in Bromsgrove have brightened up the town with their generosity -- but there is still time to make a donation to help the Primrose Hospice and Cancer Help Centre.
The Lights of Love campaign, supported for the fifth year running by the Advertiser/Messenger, is making a Christmas tree sparkle in the town centre.
Almost £11,00 has already been raised for the St Godwald's Road-based centre, which provides care and support for cancer patients. That's more than this time last year.
Everyone who donates to the appeal can have one of 3,000 lights lit up in memory of friends and family.
The lights will shine until Twelfth Night.
The names of donors and loved ones will be printed on boards around the tree's base and kept in a book of remembrance at Bromsgrove Methodist Centre, in Stratford Road.
Hospice patron Viscount Cobham has donated the Norwegian spruce which stands in Mill Lane.
Primrose special events co-ordinator Des Blee said: "People from all over the country give to our appeal. We even had a donation from an American whose mother was from Bromsgrove."
