THE Scouting spirit of fellowship has reached across from Germany to help Bewdley flood victims.

Badgers Club leader Peter Jackson of Cookley praised the generosity of a Scout leader he met on the continent in his role as assistant general secretary of the international club.

He met Herr Johannes Amort of Frelburg, Germany only once but has now received a short letter enclosing 20 deutschmarks (the equivalent of £7) to the Bewdley flood fund.

Mr Jackson said: "He must have seen pictures about it on television.

"This would have come out of his own pocket and was really very, very kind of him.

"I know he is a pensioner so it was particularly generous."

He said he was taking the donation straight to Bewdley Guildhall.
