I SINCERELY hope the people of this area are not to be let down by their current councillors, or by any disputes between them and the MP with reference to the town centre development.
I appreciate the democratic will of that army of people who voted for Health Concern activists as a shot across the bows of the health authority, but those councillors promised, at their election, to be fully active as councillors, and not just to hide behind one important issue.
The original declared purpose of the redevelopment many years ago now, was to "put life back into the town centre" - not just shops.
We need councillors to ensure both they and their partner-developers take a wider, more positive view on behalf of not only the whole community, but also on behalf of the future population.
This is not a time for penny-pinching mentalities. We need vision and a sense of social responsibility, and a cinema as well as an arts centre would make Kidderminster a proper town once again, while reducing the flow of our money out on a daily basis to Worcester and Merry Hill.
