EVESHAM'S Victorian late night shopping event was such a success a repeat is already being planned.
The town went back in time last Thursday with Victorian street entertainment in the centre and many traders dressing the part.
Shoppers were entertained by Lambeth Walkers, barrel organs, a hurdy gurdy, carols and a visit by Mr Pickwick.
Punch and Judy, candy floss and toffee apples were on hand for children, and Father Christmas made a special appearance.
Well
Town centre manager, Lew Hammond said: "It was the first time we had put on such an event and it went extremely well.
"The aim was to encourage more people to shop in our town.
"We have already got the date fixed for next year - December 13 - which will be even bigger and better."
The evening was a town centre initiative in partnership with the Riverside Shopping Centre.
Wychavon District Council donated £1,500 and the West Cornwall Pasty Company gave £225 towards the costs.
Evesham Chamber of Commerce and the Vale of Evesham Tourism Association again organised competitions and donated prizes for decorated businesses.
In the best window competition the cafes and pubs section was won by The Gateway, Market Square, in Abbey Walk, Louise Jeynes Florist won best retail shop, and The Travel Centre topped the services category.
Sue, Maxime and Susie from the West Cornwall Pasty Company won the prize for the best female costumes, and best male costume was won by Riverside manager, Bob Carr.
The pasty company also won best shop.
