TWO lucky turkeys found all their troubles far away this Christmas thanks to Sir Paul McCartney.
They got by with a little help from the famous former Beatle after he sent the Farm Animal Sanctuary in Middle Littleton - one of his late wife Linda's favourite charities - a cheque for £5,000.
He only asked that a plaque should be installed at the sanctuary in her memory.
Staff were more than happy to say yeah, yeah, yeah to 'Macca's' request and two turkeys, fated for the chop, found that money could buy them love as they were bought to replace the one the sanctuary saved for Linda two years ago.
Founder Janet Taylor said: "The one we rescued for her sadly died later of natural causes so we decided to replace it with two more whom we have named Holly and Ivy.
"We are very grateful to Sir Paul for the much needed donation and thought it appropriate to save more birds with part of the cash."
Linda McCartney, a well-known vegetarian before her death, first became involved with the animal sanctuary when it was based near Bromsgrove more than three years ago after she heard of the campaign staff had launched for a more humane deal for birds awaiting slaughter at Henley-in-Arden market.
