KIDDERMINSTER Carolians' trip to high-flying Shrewsbury in Midlands Three West (North) fell foul of the weather.
It proved a wasted trip for KCs who were faced with a pitch that was never going to be playable.
Shrewsbury officials had spread sand on the pitch but KCs felt it was not safe and the referee agreed.
KCs 2nds 17 Shrewsbury 15
Marlpool Lane was fit for action as tries from Iain Crockett and Ben Stirling plus two conversions and a penalty from Ian Doidge earned a tight victory.
KCs 3rds 22 Shrewsbury 13
A happy feature of the third team's success was the return of Andy Stooksbury.
The experienced stand-off has been sorely missed as injury has kept him out for months. Playing at scrum-half, he hit two conversions and a penalty.
His team scored three tries through Richard Ash, Simon Northcott and Ken Bickley.
