A HEALTH Concern candidate at the General Election would be promising people what they want to hear, not what is feasible, Ms Cooper warned.

She said: "I think it always very easy for politicians to say to people what they want to hear but the responsible thing to do is to take difficult decisions and to say what is right - even if it may not be what people immediately want to hear.

"I think it is a huge tribute to David's (Lock) integrity that all the way through he has recognised the difficulties faced, recognised the problems faced locally and said we do need change."

However, she did not answer the question if she thought a Health Concern candidate would pose a threat to Mr Lock's majority of 6,946.
