A KIDDERMINSTER man found with 31 ecstasy tablets could easily have used them himself in one weekend, Worcester Crown Court was told.

Drug user Sean Collier, 27, of Comberton Road, denied having the tablets intending to supply them to other people.

The prosecution offered no evidence on two charges of supplying the drug and not guilty verdicts were recorded.

Collier, who had already pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and Ecstasy, was remanded on bail for a pre-sentence report.

Mr Glyn Samuel, prosecuting, said Collier had 10 Ecstasy tablets in his pockets when arrested and another 21 were found at his home. A forensic scientist said it was unlikely but possible that Collier could have used them himself over one weekend.

As Collier was a sustained user of drugs, the likelihood of a successful prosecution was slight, said Mr Samuel.

Mr Martin Jenkins, defending, said it was possible for people to build up tolerance to Ecstasy. Collier had a serious drug problem but was taking steps to remedy it.

Mr Justice Hughes ordered an up-to-date report from the community drugs team on Collier's progress but warned that jail was still a risk.
