GUARLFORD & Madresfield Parish held its Christmas Carol Service last Sunday morning at St Mary's Church, Guarlford, which was beautifully decorated for the season.
The combined choirs from Guarlford, Madresfield and Powick churches led the singing, the choir being conducted by Margaret Tarr; and the organist was Carlton Tarr. The Rev David Nichol welcomed everyone and led the prayers. The service began with the carol Once in Royal David's City with the solo verse sung by Alicia Bennett. The readings telling the story of Christmas from the Old Testament prophets to the Gospels were read by representatives from Guarlford and Madresfield churches. They were: Avril Gover, Mark Witcombe, Andrew Bennett, David Masters, Gemma Hopkinson, Michael Huskinson and Judith Knott. The choir sang Mary's Magnificat by Carten, soloist Lyn Snook. Quem Pastores, Carol, sweetly Carol and Torches.
Christmas services continue at St Mary's, Guarlford with a Crib Service at 5.15pm on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day with Holy Communion at 11am.
