A GROUP of local film-makers have been shooting their latest movie, a ten-minute surreal comedy, in Malvern this month.
Written by Matt Hodges and directed by Neil Oseman, the film Cow Trek bears a distinct resemblance to a well-known sci-fi TV show, with a twist: the intrepid crew are manning not a spacecraft but a dairy cow.
Matt and Neil are well-known to former pupils at The Chase as the makers of Pythonesque trilogy Bob the Barbarian, which was screened during school lunchtimes in 1997.
In 1999, the duo appeared on BBC's Lee and Herring's This Morning With Richard Not Judy, having won a competition to make a spoof ad for cress.
Now Neil, a professional film-maker, and Matt, a student, have teamed up again to produce a typically bizarre script with, they promise, no shortage of laughs.
With actors Chris Jenkins and Lee Richardson, who appeared in Bob the Barbarian, they have been shooting Cow Trek in a basement in Malvern Wells, with exteriors being done on a farm in Bromyard.
Co-producer Jez Slater is confident that the film will turn out extremely well. "It's a great script," he said. "There are some real laugh-out-loud moments in it."
Neil's last film, Soul Searcher, was also made in Malvern and has recently won him a DVD player after its trailer became the most-downloaded on a BT website.
Both Soul Searcher and Cow Trek will be screened at Malvern Youth Centre on Saturday, December 30.
