YEARS of hard work have been recognised with the presentation to two teenagers of their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
The 1st Malvern Company of the Boys Brigade held its parade and annual Enrolment Service at Malvern Baptist Church.
During the service Sergeants Chris Burr, a Chase Sixth Former, and Rob Styles, a Dyson Perrins Sixth Former, received their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards from the Gloucester Battalion President Gordon Dale.
They will receive their certificates from the Duke of Edinburgh next year.
Both men have been with the company since it re-formed in 1988 and both have been promoted to Staff Sergeant.
Gaining the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award is a significant achievement.
Both undertook a challenging five day expedition in Southern Ireland on the Ring of Kerry last year.
Their residential course took place on the BB camp at Dawlish in July where they spent a week under canvas helping to organise the week and setting up the camp.
Service was with the Company, for which they had to attend several leadership courses in various parts of the country.
It has been a busy time for the company, particularly with events surrounding Remembrance Sunday.
Buglers from the Company played the Last Post at the Royal British Legion ceremony in Malvern on the Saturday. And six members and the Captain, Paul Hern, attended the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on the Saturday night and the Royal British Legion parade past the Cenotaph the following day.
