Digital Media teams around Newsquest, publishers of the Journal and the Thisisevesham.co.uk internet sites, got a taste of festive spirit as December's Revolution magazine named the company's sites among the Top 100 UK online media properties.
The magazine hit the streets with a special supplement described as "a directory of the UK's biggest online media properties". Newsquest's 5.83million quoted impressions for November put
it ahead of the combined 5.14million of the-sun.co.uk and newsoftheworld.co.uk
in the News and Information category.
Newsquest's sites, along with all the directory's entries, earned a place by virtue of their monthly page impressions tally.
"Impressions per month remains the only way we can rank the performance of the sites listed," explained the magazine's features editor, Charlotte Goddard.
"But unlike the pop charts, where pundits moan that it's possible for modern bands to get into the Top 10 having sold far fewer singles than in the good old days, the criteria for entering the Revolution Top 100 are actually growing more stringent every year," she added.
Martin Brain, Newsquest Midlands' Digital Media Manager, said "We are delighted with the huge increase in internet traffic to our web sites, the effort we have put into the design and content has been worthwhile. Local businesses are also benefiting from the internet marketing packages we can offer on our web sites, such as links and banner advertising".
