POWICK maintained their good form when they put on another good display away to Abberley on Sunday.
ABBERLEY 0, POWICK 5
Their commitment and determination were evident from the start when Bryan Craven found the back of the net after only six minutes with a volley from 16 yards out to give Powick an early lead.
Not to rest on this Powick continued to dominate the play and ten minutes later got the best goal of the game, as a result of good build up on the left the ball was whipped in by Bryan Craven for Gary Henderson to run onto and drive the ball low and hard past the keeper. Play became very much end to end from the restart and Abberley did have a good 15 minute spell where they tried to make inroads but the Powick defence of Jones, Millar, Atkins and O'Brian were in superb form and the odd shot was easily dealt with by Alex Lamb in goal.
With five minutes remaining in the first half Nick Price surprised the keeper with a shot from 20 yards out, he could only parry it away and Gary Henderson was on hand to stab the ball in the back of the net to make the score 3-0 to Powick.
Abberley were looking more lively at the start of the second half and tried their hardest to put some moves together, but they could not sustain any consistency and found themselves another goal down on the hour when a Bryan Craven shot was deflected past the keeper. Almost immediately from the start Nick Price robbed the of th ball, passed to Bryan Craven who cleverly waltzed around three players and the keeper before placing the ball inside the post for his hat-trick.
It became a damage limitation for Abberley now as they packed more players in defence. Phil Skilton was showing some lovely skills, which had them mesmerised and Powick could have scored another three or four if it had not been for some very good saves by the keeper.
This was a well-drilled performance by Powick and a good all round team effort.
Man of the Match was Bryan Craven.
