A WORCESTERSHIRE pub has scooped top prize for the quality of its food.
The Halfway House pub at Powick was commended by the pub industry's top magazine Pub Food, which gave the popular hostelry an award for the excellence in its use of fresh food on its menu.
Despite tough competition from 50 other hostelries throughout the country the pub, on the A449, won the top prize of £1,000.
Marietta Richardson from Glanbia Food service, which co-runs the competition, said the accolade was well deserved.
"We chose the Halfway House Inn because almost 100 per cent of the food they use is fresh and it really comes through in the flavours and presentation," she said.
