DROITWICH Ladies Firsts 2 Evesham Ladies' First 0. Despite the lack of festive spirit from Evesham, Droitwich were determined to have fun. With position selection from the hat it was an unusual formation for Droitwich, but team work won through.
Droitwich took the game to Evesham in the opening few minutes and were unlucky not to score when Helen Dent narrowly missed at the near post.
Team spirit was high and the newly formed forward line continued to dominate but were unable to make it count. The deadlock was broken when Angie Cornelius mesmerised the Evesham defence, capitalising on a precision pass from Karen Bell to score a super goal. Droitwich continued to dominate the game and any forward pressure from Evesham was absorbed by the defence and Gemma Richards in her new role as goalkeeper.
Following a positive team talk from skipper Claire Darby, Droitwich were not to be disappointed when Kate Rodgman showed great skill and pace to take the ball from the half way line and slot it home past the stranded keeper. Droitwich are positive that 2001 will bring even more success.
