THERE'S no better Christmas present than an England call-up.
And that's what Bromsgrove School fencers Doug Taylor and Graeme Orme wrapped up after being selected in the three-man England Under 18 epee team which competes in Salisbury next Easter.
The pair's selection came following the National Championships in October, when Graeme came third and Doug finished fifth.
The duo also made the West Midlands Under 17 team, along with another Bromsgrove School pupil, Naomi Taylor. They all performed admirably in The Cadet Winton Cup on December 16/17, helping the team to fifth place out of ten regions.
Doug and Graeme achieved good victories in the boy's epee, only losing four fights out of 27 all weekend.
Naomi fenced well in the ladies' epee, winning a number of fights and learning much from the experience.
Orme also won the five-round Leon Paul Series at Marlborough College in Bath after taking the Under 17s boys' epee title, while Doug Taylor won the boys' senior foyle and the boys' senior epee.
