HEARTFELT thanks have gone out to the generous supporters of the first Tree of Light in Droitwich Spa - which has been hailed a remarkable success.
More than 150 people have honoured a loved one this Christmas by sponsoring a light on the cedar tree, in Victoria Square.
The venture is being led by the Rotary Club of Droitwich Spa Saltway in aid of St Richard's Hospice, in Worcester, and other charities. Nearly £1,000 has been raised.
Rotarian Stuart Beardsall said: "The project is a remarkable success story and we hope to run it again next year.
"Rotarians have pulled together and the response from the public has been fantastic.
"We are very appreciative of the comments we have received from residents congratulating our hard work and highlighting areas where there is room for improvement in the future.
"Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone - especially the Droitwich Spa Advertiser which has given us excellent and enthusiastic coverage."
Organisers have opened a book of memories at Droitwich Spa Library, in Victoria Square. Pledge forms are available from our office, in High Street - you have until Twelfth Night to take part.
