Pershore Town 0, Sutton Town 5
SUTTON Town gave Pershore a right Christmas stuffing to put an end to their unbeaten run of 12 Midland Combination Premier division matches on Saturday.
Sutton's hat-trick hero Duncan Ferguson opened the scoring in the second minute, he latched onto a cross by Mark Holden to fire home. In the 15th minute Ferguson broke through the Pershore defence to tap in his second.
Pershore had a few chances in the first half. A goalbound shot by Nathan Owen was cleared off the line by Mervyn Henry, Paul Jones miskicked his drive inside the box, into the hands of keeper Tony Rowe. In the 45th minute Gary Mole set up Jones with only the keeper to beat, he shot narrowly wide. After the break Sutton were still well in control. In the 60th minute a close to goal shot by Martin Tyler was parried by keeper Neil Turner, defender Tim Concannon's attempted clearance finished in the back of the net.
In the 79th minute Sutton's Ferguson completed his hat-trick when he half volleyed in a Lee Inman cross. Two minutes later Mark Holden scored number five with a glancing header.
Town keeper Turner was the only player in the Pershore team to come out with any credit, his numerous saves prevented Sutton from reaching double figures.
