CHADDESLEY Corbett earned a good 2-2 draw at Banks's Brewery League Division One South top scorers Ledbury Town on Saturday.
It was backs-to-the-wall straight from the kick-off for the visitors and keeper David Batsford was called upon to make several fine saves.
However, Mark Hodges was making a superb job of holding his Chaddesley defence together.
Ledbury were finding a route to goal down Chaddesley's right flank and wing-back Stuart Jordan, suffering from pre-Christmas party celebrations, was replaced by Richard Burton.
But Chaddesley took the lead with their first attack on goal when Andy Baylis forced Ledbury keeper Martin Cole to clear straight to Chris Bow who floated the ball into the empty net.
Ledbury still enjoyed most of the play but dangermen Robbie Colwell and Duncan Preedy were well shackled by Sam Pountney and Chris Darby.
And Chaddesley had the chance to further their lead at the start of the second half when Baylis shot narrowly wide with only Cole to beat.
The home side responded by snatching a deserved equaliser after a defensive misunderstanding.
This sparked Chaddesley into action and they were inspired by man of the match Jamie Gardiner.
Bow broke down the left and some fine trickery from the top goal scorer nearly created an opening for his team-mates.
Then a wicked Adrian Billings free-kick was back-heeled superbly by Darby past the helpless Cole to regain the lead.
In fact, the away side should have sealed an unlikely victory when Ted Baylis shot wide when well placed.
And with only minutes remaining, Ledbury drew level when Mark Herbert slotted home after a cross was deflected into his path.
But Chaddesley nearly stole victory right at the death when impressive debutant Phil Baker out-paced the flat-footed Ledbury defence before Peter Brown's timely interception halted his raid on goal.
Fixture, Saturday: Chaddesley Corbett v Sedgley White Lions (players to meet at Longmore, 1pm).
