WORCESTER badminton ace Simon Archer is hoping to end a memorable year on a high note.
Archer, who won a mixed doubles bronze medal at the Olympics in Sydney, is in Denmark for the Copenhagen Masters, a round-robin invitation event featuring six of the world's top men's pairs.
And he got off to a cracking start yesterday when he and Nathan Robertson beat home pair Jens Eriksen and Jesper Larsen in a tense five-setter.
The tournament is the first major event to be played under a new scoring system, and Archer and Robertson eventually came through the contest 7-4 4-7 7-5 4-7 7-1.
Victory today in their second match against world number one pair, Eng Hian and Limpele Flandy from Indonesia, would put them into the final.
