A COLLECTION of songs from some of the world's greatest musicals have already proved a winning formula for Beyond the Barricade.
The production is returning to the Malvern Theatres for a third time, having previously sold out twice, on Friday, January 5, and Saturday, January 6.
Beyond the Barricade, the title taken from a song from the hit show Les Miserables, was originally staged as a one-off charity concert in aid of Mencap in 1997.
Drawing its cast from the 'Les Mis' singers, it proved an instant hit and has appeared in the West End as well as touring.
It draws its songs from the best of the West End and Broadway musicals, including Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera, 'Les Mis' and Grease.
The current cast have starred in all the major musicals.
Rebecca Vere played Cosette in the national tour of 'Les Mis' and David Fawcett played Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell, the Emcee in Cabaret and Sky Masterston in Guys and Dolls. They are joined by Andy Reiss, resident director for the national tour of 'Les Mis' and Che Guevara in Evita, and Cathy Cogle, who made her West End debut as Cosette in 'Les Mis' and has also played the title role in The Diary of Anne Frank in New York.
Performances are at 7.30pm and tickets are £16 and £14 from 01684 892277.
