A LOTTERY bid for funds to help finance Malvern's sports hall project has been temporarily withdrawn.
The bid had been lodged by Malvern Hills District Council, which has been examining ways of funding the project since tenders came in £500,000 over budget. The Council says it has withdrawn the bid to allow further discussions with Sport England on the details of the project but will be resubmitting it.
The current plan is for a four court sports hall adjoining the Splash in Priory Road. The Council has put up £1.3 million for the project, money drawn from the proceeds of the council house sale to Elgar Housing Association, and Splash operators SLM have offered £500,000.
