MALVERN Town celebrated in the best possible way when their home, Boxing Day, Banks's Premier Division defeat of Kington Town made it a maximum six out of six festive points and in doing so moved them up into fourth place.

Town have now picked up 25 points out of a possible 27 since their last league defeat at Walsall Wood back in October.

Town were without flu victims skipper Sean Cotterill, Raj Sharma and John Hayes. However, Town seemed barely troubled by this when Andy Shepherd swept them into an eleventh minute lead.

Minutes later they were rocked slightly when they lost possession in midfield and allowed Kington the time and space to secure an equaliser. Town were quickly back in their stride again, but this time were a little fortunate when the veteran Gary Stevens headed a Steve Walker corner past his own keeper to restore Malvern's lead.

The second period could not have started better for Town when skipper for the day Dave Damore, fed the lively Chris Thomas, whose run and cross was met perfectly by Shepherd, who steered his header home to give Malvern a winning 3-1 lead.
