MORE than 100 jobs are to be created at a car interior manufacturer in Redditch.

Magna Interior Systems, based at Ravensbank Business Park, North Moons Moat, has announced the jobs after major investment into the company.

Over the past year the company, part of Magna International, has invested more than £5 million, leading to expanding business and creating further job opportunities.

Magna Interior Systems was originally set up in 1995 as a direct supplier to the Rover Group for interior trim components and systems, such as instrument panels and doors.

But even after the sale of Rover by BMW, Magna continued to invest for the future.

General manager Norman Taylor said: "The reason for our success is largely due to our unique culture where teamwork is paramount.

"We recognise that our greatest assets are our human assets."

Redditch MP Jacqui Smith, who visited the plant on Friday, said: "The new production lines at Magna are at the forefront of technology and the company has very progressive employment conditions.

"Magna is investing to secure success, its investment is a vote of confidence in Redditch and I'm sure it will go from strength to strength."
