A TWENTY-ONE-year-old Kidderminster woman convicted of a glass attack has been banned from all nightclubs by a judge before she is sentenced.

Rachel Pooler, of Grasmere Close, was cleared at Worcester Crown Court of wounding Peter Whittingham with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

But she was convicted of wounding him while he was on duty as a bouncer at Time nightclub in Blackwell Street, Kidderminster.

The jury heard she lunged at him with a glass when he was ejecting her and another woman from the club last August.

Antonie Muller, prosecuting, said she was drunk and bullied another customer on the dance floor before security staff decided she should go.

Mr Whittingham, who also trains doormen at Tamworth College, had a 5cm cut and a tendon severed in his right thumb.

Pooler told the court she had drunk lager and another alcoholic drink before going to the club where she downed four vodka-based drinks.

She admitted "feeling merry."

She claimed she drank out of the bottles and never had a glass and added: "I didn't glass him. I don't know why Peter is blaming me, I didn't do it."

Pooler admitted being angry with another woman in the club. But she rejected a prosecution suggestion that the woman was the target while Mr Whittingham got injured by mistake.

Adjourning the case for a pre-sentence report, Judge Michael Mott said the glassing of a nightclub employee whose job was to keep the peace was a serious matter.
