Massey Ferguson 5, Pershore Town 4
PERSHORE Town's poor recent run continued when they lost out after a nine-goal thriller at Massey Ferguson in Saturday's Midland Combination Premier Division clash.
Massey went ahead after just 90 seconds when an attempted back header by Chris Jew fell for Pete Hegarty to tap in past the advancing Neil Turner.
In the 18th minute, Massey went further ahead when Hegarty played a pass in front of goal for Paul Charnley to slot home.
Fiv eminutes later, Paul Jones played the ball into the box for Joe Maidment to run on to and fire in his first goal for Pershore.
Two minutes later Jonathan Gregory passed for Jones to blast home the equaliser.
Pershore were now on top and were rewarded two minutes before the break when Niki Halion set up Dean Emerson to hit a far post cross for Gregory to head into the other side of goal.
After the interval, Massey pressed forward in search of the equaliser. It came in the 66th minute when the quickest striker on the park, Hegarty, ran in from the left wing to score with a terrific low drive.
Three minutes later, Massey were ahead again. John Woodhouse was fouled by Gary Smith on the edge of the penalty area but the attacker managed to keep possession and fire in a deserved goal.
It was 5-3 up after 76 minutes when Matty Cairns crossed to the far post and Charnley blasted in from close-range.
Three minutes into injury time Pershore's top scorer Jones scored their fourth when he hit a 30-yard free kick that gave keeper Ian Cox no chance and left Town reflecting on three more lost points as their early season form continues to desert them.
