I REFER to an article on the Stourport relief road, in the Shuttle on March 29.
Why should businessmen have the right to say if there should be a relief road for Stourport?
The questionnaire filled in by them should be sent to every household in Stourport - the people who really use the roads - to put their point of view forward.
To open up York Street, Lion Hill and Vale Road to two-way traffic is nonsense.
Both York Street and Lion Hill are too narrow for a two-way system, and the volume of traffic has increased considerably, which was why the one-way system was introduced.
As for pedestrianising the town centre, that will only work if a relief road is built.
Stourport businessmen are concerned that they may lose trade if this road is built.
Bewdley has a by-pass and Kidderminster a ring road, and their businesses have not been affected.
The Stourport road has been talked about for years. Now is the time to stop talking and start building.
