REGARDING foot and mouth disease and sympathy for farmers - well, they haven't got mine.
Foot and mouth disease is not a public health risk, no human has ever died from it, neither is it about animal welfare - they don't die of it.
So what is it all about? Money, money, and even more money.
Farmers are receiving reimbursement for what I see as their bad farm practices such as transporting animals all over the country. But what about the consequential losses to other businesses?
Vaccination hasn't taken place because then our farmers couldn't export.
I noticed in the media one farmer was supposedly in tears because his beloved cattle may fall victim to the slaughter policy.
But when he discovered they were safe, he drove them to the local abattoir.
Who caused the spread of this disease in the first place? The farmers.
