THE resignation of Bretforton Old Boys from the Stratford Alliance has meant grave consequences for the village's Sports side.

The reigning Journal Premier Division champions were docked six points in the revised standings and their hopes of retaining the title were dealt another blow when two more points slipped from their grasp after Saturday's goalless draw at Halfords, who are joining the Midland Combination next season.

New leaders Shipston hadn't faced the Old Boys and their 5-1 win at Henley Forest has left them one point clear at the summit. Kevin Burrows hit a hat-trick.

Single goals from Graham Westmacott and Rich Foreman earned Bidford BC and FISSC maximum points against Badsey United and Studley respectively.

Campden Town require just one more win to secure the Herald Division One crown after Matt Tye's goal proved the clincher against Long Compton.

In the section's knockout competition, basement side Claverdon OB overcame Quinton 3-1 to move into the semi-finals. Payne, Whitehead and Spiers were on target for the winners.

In the Cutler Division Two League Cup, Jerry Smith scored twice as Spartak Park reached the final on the strength of a 3-1 win at Alcester Lions.

The only league match to take place in the second division saw Steve Hedderman (2) and Mark Schaus help Shipston to a welcome win at Badsey United.
