PERSHORE Town ended a run of nine games without a win in some style when they triumphed 1-0 at title-chasing Nuneaton Griff in the Midland Combination Premier Division last night.
Town, who boosted their hopes of finishing third as a result, scored what proved to be the only goal five minutes before the break. Following a good move, there was a scramble in the area and Ian Stewart slotted home from close range.
Nuneaton, who would have gone top of the table had they won, put on heavy pressure throughout the second-half, which included eight minutes of stoppage time. But the defence, with goalkeeper Neil Turner and left-back Glenn Burrow in excellent form, held out to enable Town to complete a league 'double' over their hosts.
