ASTON Villa manager John Gregory is calling for goal-line technology to be introduced to resolve controversial incidents -- even though he admits his side "got lucky" in the hoodoo-breaking 2-1 home win over Leicester City last night.
Lee Hendrie's second-half strike ensured that Villa registered their first victory over their Midlands rivals in 15 matches spanning 13 years.
But the ever honest Gregory held his hand up and felt that Dion Dublin's first-half equaliser had not crossed the line.
He had every sympathy for fuming Foxes manager Peter Taylor after an assistant linesman signalled that City goalkeeper Simon Royce had carried the ball into his own net.
Gregory said: "I can't believe the assistant linesman gave our first goal. It's almost like it's on a whim whether he puts his flag up or just shakes his head and fortunately he decided to put it up for us.
"I don't think Peter Taylor is very happy about the decision, as well he shouldn't be. I would not be very happy with it if it had been us.
"But it's a massive responsibility on an assistant and technology and cameras on the line would be an answer," said the Villa manager.
