New grants
WORCESTERSHIRE County Council's Art Service has announced the names of the successful arts projects in Pershore that will benefit from start up grants, set up to encourage community and voluntary groups to launch arts projects. Successful applicants include the Pershore Jazz Festival and Volante Strings.
Famed work
Mendelssohn's famed choral work Elijah gets an airing in Pershore Abbey, courtesy of the Philomusica group. Saturday's concert is due to begin at 7.30pm. Tickets on 01242 674094 or www.philomusica.org.uk.
It's Bollywood
BOLLYWOOD is returning to Birmingham as Fourteen Songs, Two Weddings and a Funeral takes to the main stage at the Rep Theatre. The play had a sell-out success at The Door and a national tour in 1998 and combines classic Bollywood ingredients of romance, comedy, song and dance. It runs from next Tuesday to April 21.
