50th ANNIVERSARY SERVICE: An ecumenical service to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the combining of Wellesbourne Mountford, Wellesbourne Hastings and Walton into one parish was held at St Peter's Church, Wellesbourne last Sunday. Coun Bill McCarthy, chairman of Stratford District Council and his wife, Mr C A Moore, chairman of Warwickshire Association of Local Councils and Mr Foy, president of Warwickshire Association of Local Councils as well as representatives of many local organisations attended the service and were welcomed on behalf of the parish council by the Rev Canon Norman V Howes. Rev Clive Fowle and Father David Condron represented Wellesbourne's Methodist and Roman Catholic Churches. Lay Readers, parish councillors and local leaders contributed to various items of the service and coun David Close, chairman Wellesbourne Parish Council gave the address and led the Intercessions for the work of the parish council. The collection was in aid of the Wellesbourne and Kineton Activity Scheme for Disabled People.
VILLAGE SOCIETY: The annual dinner of the Wellesbourne Village Society was held on March 28 at the Wellesbourne Watermill, 42 members and friends attended. Mrs Margaret Rawlinson again did the catering and the menu consisted of soup, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with a large selection of vegetables and a choice of delicious sweets. Wine and soft drinks were available. Kerry Pardoe, chairman, thanked Mrs Rawlinson and her most efficient staff and everyone agreed that they had a most pleasant evening.
