Redditch III 26, Pershore IV 7pts

PERSHORE arrived several players short and then had to face a very strong home side on a pitch that varied from perfect to liquid mud.

The visitors opted to play up the considerable slope and in the wet half of the pitch. The supreme effort they put in saw the home side having to score with penalties as they were denied any other chances by some outstanding defensive work.

The game saw the return of Geoff Bucknall to the side following a prolonged absence due to a knee injury and his influence, along with the good form of Tom and Simon Partridge, helped to see the visitors go into half time leading 7-6 after a strong run by the latter rewarded with a try, converted by Sam Cook.

The second half should have seen Pershore take control as they had the help of the slope. Instead, they slowly lost their way and, but for some very good defensive work by Ben Humphries, the scoreline would have been more in favour of the home side.
