Redditch II 10, Pershore II 13

PLAYING with just 13 men, a makeshift pack and scrum half, Pershore didn't expect to take a lot away from the game.

Luckily, a combination of factors including some outstanding defence, opportunistic scoring and most importantly the opposition keeping the game tight instead of spinning wide gave Pershore a deserved victory.

Playing up the slope in the first half it was Redditch who took the early initiative. They used the advantage of the pitch well to play the game in the Pershore half, but solid defence kept them down to just a solitary penalty.

Pershore then got themselves back into the game with good forward driving and eventually they drew level with a penalty from Scott Johnston.

They kept the pressure on and nearly took the lead but a second penalty attempt from Johnston went astray.

Redditch capitalised and started to attack the Pershore line once more. Despite more excellent defence they eventually went over for a converted try to put them 10-3 up at half time.

Pershore played the second half with more belief, and the slope, and started to take more control. A quick drop out and swift counter attack put Leon Jammal away and he easily outpaced the defence. Snell took over the kicking duties and converted to tie the score.

Pershore kept plugging away and were not to be denied the victory as more excellent forward thrusting gave them a penalty chance which Snell converted.
