CALLS from farmers needing advice, counselling or financial aid are being made daily to a rural stress helpline.
Rural chaplain Canon John Willis, who covers the Worcester diocese, said he had lost count of the number of farmers and allied workers he had spoken to since the crisis began.
"My workload has increased a hundredfold. It's now become a telephone ministry," he said.
"In the last week I've been dealing chiefly with those in financial trouble."
Canon Willis is able to help farmers get assistance through the ARC/Addington Fund. In addition to the regional helpline, on 0870 707 4445, there is a Worcestershire helpline on 01905 381818.
