A MOTORIST pulled over by police when they spotted his car swerving from side-to-side was travelling at just 10mph, a court heard.
Dermot Morris, aged 29, from Tunnel Hill, Worcester, was found to be more than three times the legal drink-drive limit. He admitted the offence.
Kiernan Cunningham, prosecuting, said at 11.40pm on Saturday, March 31, officers followed a Ford Fiesta at 11.40pm along the City Walls Road in Worcester as it crossed white lines "swerving from side-to-side and travelling at 10mph".
Morris was breathalysed, arrested and taken to Worcester Police Station where a reading showed 109mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Andrew Childs, defending, said his client had returned, after a heavy night's drinking, to the flat he was sharing with a friend but was locked out.
"His friend also has a narrowboat by the canal and he decided to drive there to sleep," he said.
Mr Childs said Morris regretted his actions.
Magistrates ordered an interim ban and called for pre-sentence reports and adjourned the case until Monday, April 30.
