HEREFORDSHIRE drivers have been warned to take extra care on the county's roads because of the foot-and-mouth outbreak.
But restrictions on riding, walking and cycling mean people who would have been spending their leisure time on farms, common land or footpaths are taking to the county's highways.
Herefordshire Council says the lighter evenings are enticing increasing numbers of people on to the roads.
It wants drivers to be alert and other road users to wear bright clothing.
