MALVERN RANGERS 1, PERRYWOOD 0
RANGERS exacted revenge for a 2-1 defeat suffered some six weeks ago at Worcester, but it was a struggle to secure the three points in a largely disappointing Worcester League Saturday Premier Division game.
The first half was almost uneventful with both defences on top, play being concentrated in midfield and the two goalkeepers not seeing too much action.
Playing down the slope, Perrywood enjoyed the greater possession but keeper Phil Birch was only really threatened once when he made a good save to keep his goal intact.
The second half did improve and Rangers started to put a few passing moves together. David Beats struck the crossbar following a through ball from Steve Hodges and after ten minutes Phil Birch was forced into making a good save following a right sided corner.
Rangers took the lead after 20 minutes. Roger Kitchener played a cross field ball to Chris Davis who knocked it into the path of Rob Perrins. He slipped it to Marc Kitchener to score from close range inside the near post.
Fifteen minutes later Rangers deserved a second goal when Chris Davis headed the ball down to Rob Perrins who hit an excellent volley narrowly wide of the far post.
Before the end Lee Brookes, tried a 'David Beckham' from the half way line and keeper Craig Gourley had to scamper back to retrieve the ball inside his penalty area.
Rangers just about deserved the points and the man of the match went to Sean Lynch.
On Saturday, Rangers sponsored by the Three Horseshoes, travel to Inkberrow for a Premier Division fixture, kick off 3pm. Players to meet Brooklyn Motors 1.30pm.
