A pub barman is to face another trial on a charge of carrying out a baseball attack on another man in Stourport.

A jury at Worcester Crown Court failed to agree after six and a half hours in the case of 21-year-old Aaron Weavers.

Weavers denied wounding Richard Kilgour with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and also pleaded not guilty to an alternative charge of unlawful wounding.

Judge Michael Mott remanded him on bail for a re-trial at a date to be fixed.

The prosecution alleged that Weavers, of Bullus Road, Stourport, attacked Mr Kilgour after an early morning fracas on the forecourt of the Esso serv-ice station in Vale Road, Stourport, on September 30 last year.

Mr Kilgour was chased along Prospect Road before being hit in the ribs and on the head with a baseball bat.

Weavers, who had three teeth knocked out by another man in the distur-bance, claimed he initially admitted the attack to the police because it would be good for his reputation as someone who could look after himself.

But after finding out about the serious injuries inflicted on Mr Kilgour he de-cided to tell the truth, saying he never caught the men he was chasing.
